Sneak Preview of the Chattanooga conference which will be in April.  This should mirror the Indianapolis conference we are attending:

Kay Arthur's "Becoming a Woman of Greater Faith"
Whether single or married, what does a life of faith look like practically? How can you live in such a way as to help others, including your children, grow in faith? In this "hands-on" seminar, you'll not only study the subject, you'll learn inductive study skills that will help you become a woman of unshakeable faith.

Nancy Leigh DeMoss' "Daily Devotions: Duty or Delight?"
This message may change your whole perspective on daily devotions! Discover why a consistent devotional life is foundational to cultivating an intimate, fruitful relationship with God. And gain practical insights that may transform your "daily devotions" into the most meaningful time in your day!

Holly Elliff's "Embracing God's Perspective on Motherhood"
Do you ever wonder if being a mom is worth the effort? Come to this session and discover God's "big picture" perspective on this question. Learn how Scripture reveals that His answer is a profound YES!

Susan Henson's "A Battle Plan for Moral Purity"
It's hard raising children in a culture that promotes messages that are so contrary to God's way of thinking. So how do we as moms, grandmothers, and mentors sow seeds of purity into young hearts? Discover biblical truths and practical tools, and hear inspiring testimonies that will equip you to proactively lead your child (ages 0–13) toward a future of courageous faith and purity.

Susan Hunt's "Spiritual Mothering: The Titus 2 Mandate for Women Mentoring Women"
Do you have a spiritual mother? Is your church preparing you to be a spiritual mother? Is the church or the culture telling the next generation of women what it means to be a true woman? Come and hear ideas for implementing a vibrant Titus 2 discipleship ministry in the local church.

Mary Kassian's "Girls Gone Wise"
Girls have gone wild! And it's a phenomenon that goes far beyond the college-aged ones who expose themselves on camera for the sake of a dare and a T-shirt. The Bible paints a portrait of two prototypical women—one who's wild and one who's wise. The saucy, seductive Wild Thing is the type that society upholds as the ideal. But the smart, biblically savvy Wise Thing is the model for all women who want to live according to God's spectacular design. Wild or wise. Do you know the difference? Join Mary as she uses a story in Proverbs to outline the points of contrast between these two types of women.

Bob Lepine's "What Your Husband Wishes You Knew About Being His Wife"  FamilyLife Today co-host Bob Lepine will talk about how a wife can encourage and support her husband to be the man God has called him to be. He'll give you a "man's-eye view" of what motivates and demotivates husbands.

Carolyn McCulley's "Women's Global Issues: Challenges for Women in Developing Nations"
This seminar looks at the health and economic challenges women in the developing world currently face—including sex trafficking, maternal health, fistulas, genital cutting, and more. Through film clips, these serious topics will be examined redemptively, informing audiences of current efforts to help the status of women and girls around the world and applying a gospel-centered worldview to these important issues. You'll leave better informed about women's issues internationally and how you can get involved, from intercessory prayer to participating in ministries in these areas.

Alice Moss' "Session for Widows"
In January 2007, two weeks after Alice Moss' husband came to faith in Christ, he went home to be with the Lord. In this informal ministry time for widows, Alice will share her journey and lead a time of spiritual encouragement, sharing, and prayer.

Alice Moss' "Session for Women Married to Unbelievers"
From the time Alice came to faith in Christ at the age of 21, she prayed for her unbelieving husband to know the Lord. God did not choose to answer that prayer for 40 years. Alice will briefly share her personal testimony and lead an informal time of encouragement, sharing, and prayer for women married to unbelieving husbands.

Fern Nichols' "Prayer, A Lasting Legacy"
What impact will your life have on future generations? The legacy of prayer is of higher value than stock portfolios, properties, money, or heirlooms. Join us in learning prayer principles that will change your prayer life and ignite you to pray with confidence for your children and grandchildren. Invest in eternity—leave a legacy of prayer.

Jennifer Rothschild's "Your Thought Closet Make-Over: Becoming a Woman Wardrobed in Truth"
Every woman has a closet full of everything she's placed there; some items are attractive, but lots are outdated, ugly, or just don't fit! Every woman also has a thought closet full of everything she's said to herself for years. Some of the self talk content is attractive and useful. But lots of it is ugly, outdated, and just doesn't fit because it isn't based on truth! What we've placed in our thought closets is what we clothe our lives with. That's why Jennifer's session is so life-giving. She helps you know what to say to your soul and what to never allow in your thought closet. Based on her book Self Talk, Soul Talk and her Bible Study Me, Myself and Lies, she'll provide practical strategies for guarding your closet door and give you biblical statements you can speak to your own soul.

Sarah Stevenson's "Session for Women's Ministry Directors"
Are you responsible for the women's ministry in your church? Revive Our Hearts wants to serve and encourage you in this vital role! Sarah will lead this interactive session for women's ministry directors. You'll have a chance to ask questions and interact in an informal way with Sarah and other women's ministry directors as well.

Devi Titus' "The Table Experience: Creating Deeper Relationships Through Hospitality"
"Home is where the heart is formed" is a frequent quote of Devi. Hospitality is God's way to reach the heart of others. Devi combines biblical convictions with practical applications to equip you to minister to others through hospitality. Discover how to create deeper more meaningful relationships through hospitality.

“Watching the Day of the Lord”, Chapter 4
Joel 1-2:27

There were a two things that stood out to me while studying this past two weeks:

First, there were various groups of people that were affected by the locust plague – drunkards (1:5-7), farmers (1:11f) and priests (1:13f).  And all were affected in differing ways – the drunkard had no wine, the farmer had no food and the priest had no sacrifice.  On the surface, I thought the worst was the no food because it appeared to affect all the groups.  Low and behold, another commentary sheds light on the worst truth:

“The severity of God’s judgment is sharpened by His destruction of His people’s means of access to Him.  Only one hope is left:  assemble in the temple and cry to the Lord.”

Woe!  Again I am struck with my lack of proper focus and worldly perspective… Joel is so in step with the Lord that he looks at life from the standpoint of the Word of the Lord – the worst affect is being unable to come to the Lord!  When will I see this clearly and live in such a manner that demonstrates my understanding!?!?! (sidebar – how does the quote compare to what occurred with Jesus?)

Second, thinking differently

“Hebrews were able to see the general in the particular.  Each instance of God’s judgment contained the facts of ALL judgment, including the final one.  And as in the case of judgment, any single act of deliverance symbolizes God’s power and willingness to perform full-scale redemption.”

All things that occur in this world are intended to point to God.  Joel teaches about God’s complete control, even of nature!  Nowhere does Joel hint that anyone or anything is outside of God’s authority, even the locusts, calamity and the enemy army are under His control.  What is so cool to me is that while God is Lord OVER all, He is still active IN all.

May I learn to see clearly from the standpoint of the Word of God all events in the world and trust that God is in control!

The purpose of prayer is not to get man's will done in heaven, but to get God's will done on earth.  Warren Wiersbe
