Sometimes, knowing how to pray for a missionary is the most difficult part of praying for missions. Most of our missionaries provide us with specific requests. The following are some additional ideas for prayer. 1. Pray for the missionaries' love for God. Pray that their service will be motivated by God's love and desire for His purpose and His glory. Pray that they will make time to spend alone with God. Pray for faithfulness. Pray that their faith and joy might increase. Pray that their fruit of the Spirit will be abundantly evident in their lives. 2. Pray for the missionaries' love for others. Pray for their relationships with co-workers, nationals, and their own families. Pray that the love of God will be evident as they reach out to others. 3. Pray for God's protection, both physically and spiritually. Pray for safety and health as they travel. Pray for courage to face any dangers they may be confronting. Pray for their families' protection from disease and discouragement. Children are often separated from parents in order to get an education. 4. Pray for those they minister to. Pray that God will open the hearts of many to the message of the Gospel. Pray that God will strengthen new believers and national pastors and workers. Pray for the countries our missionaries work in, for their leadership and for an openness to the message of Christ. 5. Above all, PRAY! |
